Thread Traveller: Module 5 chapter 10

Three resolved samples using the following methods, silk paper, soluble methods and handmade paper, or a combination of methods.

My design source was once again the stitches of Punto in Aria lace that I had researched at the beginning of this module. And also the cutwork bedspread.

The first sample was created using a water soluble medium and FME, in white cotton thread and silver Madeira embroidery thread. The design was based on the above sketch and hand stitched once the w/s medium was dissolved. Small flat shells were then encased in a sandwich of lace and metallic organza.

The next sample is a combination of silk paper and water soluble technique. I laid down a series of circular/oval shapes using the dyed silk rod from the previous chapter on a w/s base, and then FME'd some shapes from the above deigns. I dried the piece after dissolving some of the w/s medium on a piece of silk as I knew it would bleed while drying. Once fully dried I made a basket for small treasures and embroidered the top.

The third sample is constructed using paper pulp over a frame, which was wrapped and worked with FME in one corner. I then added spirals of thread to the wet pulp. Once dried I hand worked areas of the sample, again using stitches from my research.
